I'm the Hat Fairy and I knit hats and cardis for babies in Neonatal Units. If you know of anyone with any spare 4 ply or DK wool please would you let them have my email address and I'll contact them.

Dear Ladies

I am writing to ask if any of your members would be interested in helping us to knit things for our
"Wrap up a Kiddie" campaign?

All the children we knit (and sew) for are being supported by the London charity, Kids Company
(www.kidsco.org.uk) and are growing up in very precarious conditions and circumstances indeed.

We knit scarves, hats, mittens, cardigans, jumpers, blankets of all shapes sizes and colours for
them - there are children from tiny babies to teenagers being helped via Kids Company and so we can
find a home for any items in virtually any size and colour!

We would also like to collect some knitting supplies to share amongst those who can knit but are not
able to buy wool etc.

Do you think this is something your group would be interested in helping with?

'QUILTS 1700 - 2010' is a major exhibition on at the V&A www.varm.ac.uk/quilts.

starts 20 march - 4 July.

Another interesting place to keep an eye on is Farnham Malting's, they have loads of stuff on with some really interesting workshops, in the past they've had broomstick crotchet, diagonal and bias knitting, felting etc have a look at www.farnhammaltings.com

Festival of Quilts 2010 is on at the NEC Birmingham 19-22 August. seewww.twistedthread.com

Lastly, some members of our group are exhibiting work as part of the hyde 900 'Re-imagining treasures of hyde abbey', there are some interesting works to be seen at all three sites, including some knitting!

The first meeting happened in the wonderful Hyde tavern, in all ten of us turned up with our stuff and spent an evening of coincidence; (hazel had been taught maths back in the last century by Barbara, who'd only moved to Winchester three weeks before) we ate chocolate, drank pots of tea and tried to create something recognisable. The next one will be on Thurs 18Th Feb. same place, same time, 8pm +. see you there.
